Prostheses can be total or partial. Prostheses used to be the basis of dental prosthetics, but nowadays they are being replaced with implants and fixed works. If there’s an inability to fit an implant, a prosthesis can be an optimal solution for the patient. A total prosthesis replaces all teeth in a toothless jaw, while partial prosthesis replaces only the missing teeth. A partial prosthesis can be made of acrylate with wire clips or with a metal base known as “wironit prosthesis”. Prostheses can be fixated on implants with different kinds of clutches. They can be removable (locators, clutches) or fixed, which only a dentist can remove (all on 4, all on 6).
